American Families Abandoned by Biden Overseas

Afghan people climb atop a plane as they wait at the Kabul airport in Kabul on August 16, 2021, after a stunningly swift end to Afghanistan’s 20-year war, as thousands of people mobbed the city’s airport trying to flee the group’s feared hardline brand of Islamist rule. Initial estimates by the Biden administration were that there were between 100 and 200 American citizens still in Afghanistan. Although they assured us that they were working to get them all out, over the next few weeks, it became clear that the number of American citizens trapped in Taliban-controlled is on the rise.

The Pentagon now admits that U.S. military personnel’s immediate families are among them. report by NBC News states that Undersecretary for Defense for Policy Colin Kahl sent a message asking all U.S. military personnel or civilians who have immediate family there to contact his office if they need assistance leaving Afghanistan.

The memo was obtained by NBC News. It instructs military personnel and civilians from the Defense Department to email a particular address with the subject “immediate family members”.

NBC News reports that there are still a few dozen family members of U.S. military personnel in Afghanistan. These include parents, siblings, brothers, and children. “There are over 100 extended relatives still in Afghanistan.” But, defense officials don’t know how many want to leave.

It is tragic that any American was left behind, but the Biden administration manages to make it worse. First, by lying about it and then by admitting that even family members of U.S. soldiers were left behind.
