President Joe Biden called Satchel Paige, the late baseball player, “the great negro”, before correcting himself on Thursday during his Veterans Day address at Arlington National Cemetery.

When Biden was honoring former U.S. Senators, Donald Blinken (Army veteran, father of Antony Blinken), he began his speech with a story about Paige who played in “Negro leagues” prior to moving to Major League Baseball in late 1940s.

“I have adopted the attitude and mentality of the great negro of that time, the pitcher of the Negro leagues. He went on to become a great pitcher for Major League Baseball, just like Jackie Robinson. Thankfully Biden remembered that his name was Satchel Paige.

Biden said, “And Satchel Paige pitched against Chicago on his 47th Birthday.” All the media went in to say, “Satch is amazing. At forty-seven years of age. At 47, no one has ever won a game. What do you think about being 47 years old? He replied, “I look at it like this: How old would I be if I didn’t know how much you were?”

Biden just continues to make a fool out of himself.
