Rapper Dr. Dre has announced that he will headline the Pepsi Halftime Show during Super Bowl LVI at SoFi Stadium. The six-time Grammy award winner will be joined by fellow rappers, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and R&B artist, Mary J. Blige.

It’s a star-studded lineup of both old and new, consisting of 43 Grammy awards and 19 No. 1 Billboard albums. It also plays out a theme of showcasing rap/hip-hop music in a city like Los Angeles that is synonymous with it. We saw the same thing during Super Bowl LIV when Shakira and Jennifer Lopez performed in Miami.

Furthermore, Dre, Dogg and Lamar all grew up in Los Angeles County, making an obvious connection to their selection. This will be the first halftime show to feature an all rap/hip-hop lineup. In previous years, we have seen artists such as Travis Scott, Big Boi and Nicki Minaj take the stage, but never as the headliner.

Dre’s announcement has fans buzzing on social media, looking forward to hearing the group perform on Feb. 13, 2022.
