Rudy Giuliani pulled no punches during his address at the 2020 Republican National Convention.
“Today, my city is in shock,” he said. “Don’t let Democrats do to America what they’ve done to New York.”
The former mayor of New York City and attorney for President Trump viciously attacked Democratic nominee Joe Biden and progressive groups such as Black Lives Matter.
“Biden has changed his principles so often, he no longer has any principles,” Giuliani said. “He’s a Trojan horse, with Bernie, AOC, Pelosi, Black Lives Matter, and his party’s entire left wing just waiting to execute their pro-criminal, anti-police, socialist policies.”
On Monday, Giuliani took to Fox News to preview some of his remarks and warned viewers that a Democratic president would lead to the spread of urban violence seen in Minneapolis and Portland following the death of George Floyd.
“If you want to take a look at Joe Biden’s America, take a look at Portland last night, where they had a riot. Take a look at the woman who punches the other woman in church yesterday. Take a look at the 51 shootings in New York and the four murders,” Giuliani said. “That is all happening under Democrat mayors who actually now do nothing about it.”
A week before his remarks, Giuliani teased a ” major exposé” on Twitter that would “completely shake the 2020 Presidential election.” In his tweet, Giuliani attached a photo of himself reading the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
Following his vocal support for Trump’s campaign in 2016, the president appointed Giuliani as a White House adviser in 2017. A year later, Giuliani joined Trump’s legal team in the midst of the Russia investigation.
His conduct with regard to Ukrainian officials made him a central figure in Trump’s impeachment hearings and subsequent acquittal. In 2019, Giuliani was under investigation by federal prosecutors for purported campaign finance violations and failure to register as a foreign agent. As of August, prosecutors have taken no action against him.
