The Mexican President Has Blamed The Border Crisis On Joe Biden

Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador believes that there is one person to blame for the immigration crunch at the United States-Mexico border, and that person is President Joe Biden. According to the president of Mexico, Biden set “expectations” that migrants at the border would be treated better than they had been under former President Trump, which caused an influx of people to seek a better life across the border in the United States.

“This has caused Central American migrants, and also from our country, wanting to cross the border thinking that it is easier to do so,” López Obrador said at a news conference held on Tuesday. “People don’t go to the United States for fun. They go out of necessity.”

During the first few months of the Biden presidency, Trump-era policies that were tough on migrants have begun to be dismantled. However, Biden has kept some pandemic-related policies in place, which allowed Trump to return many border people trying to cross the border into Mexico.

Mexico Foreign Affairs Secretary Marcelo Ebrard met with his American counterparts to talk about the “humanitarian actions to spur, in the short term, an inclusive economic development in northern Central America,” reported a statement released by the government of Mexico.

“If we persevere and act together … we can achieve that these countries and southern Mexico have a different future, have other possibilities,” Ebrard said. “That no one has to migrate due to poverty, insecurity, desperation.”

Three Central American countries have supplied the most migrants to the United States-Mexican border. These countries are Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador and are sometimes referred to as the Northern Triangle countries due to their geographic location.

Gladys McCormick, an associate professor in history at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, admitted that Biden is more diplomatic regarding the border than his predecessor. However, McCormick insists that the United States delegation arrived in Mexico with the intention “to have the Mexicans do some of their dirty work, which is yet again to stop the flow of people coming in on the southern border.”

McCormick also believes that the president of Mexico has welcomed the migrant push at the border because it has given his country something else to focus on rather than the violence and crime plaguing the country.

“[López Obrador] needs this as a way sort of to deflect attention from what’s going on in Mexico now, especially in the lead up to the mid-term elections this summer,” she said.

Readers of Daily Mail were not surprised to hear the Mexican president blames President Joe Biden for the migrant push at the border.

“Can’t believe I’m saying this, but the Mexican president is spot on. This crisis at our border is completely the fault of Joe Biden and the congressional Democrats who care more about creating new illegal alien democrat voters than our own citizens.”

“The Mexican President is actually very decent. He partnered with Trump to keep the Central American migrants from illegally crossing into America. The vast majority of them are not from Mexico.”
