National Guard Will Be Stationed in D.C. Prior to Trucker Protest

According to law enforcement officials, several convoys are currently being formed across the country. They will eventually congregate in Washington, D.C. at the end of February or the beginning of March.

Joe Biden will deliver the State of the Union address on March 1. D.C. Metropolitan Police Department and Capitol Police have requested that national guard troops be deployed to manage traffic in the city. They are worried about a situation similar to the one in Ottawa earlier this month.

According to the Pentagon, troops will not be armed or participate in surveillance or law enforcement activities.

Police still have to decide whether to secure the Capitol Building as they did after the Jan. 6 riots.

According to Fox News – The United States Capitol Police is working closely with the United States Secret Service in preparation for the forthcoming State of the Union. Although the temporary inner-perimeter barricade remains an option, it has yet to be decided.

Protests have many beginning points, and will not be present in the capital until after Biden’s State of the Union address.

According to the Associated Press: It is unclear if any U.S. convoys will try to close down Washington’s streets like their Canadian counterparts in Ottawa.

If truckers would claim that they are here to protest police brutality and fight for racial equity, it would be more intelligent. Then, Washington would then ask them how long they would like to stay.
